Fwd: Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics at SciLifeLab
STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY announces a position as Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics at SciLifeLab within the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics (ref nr SU 612-2606-09). Deadline for application: March 1, 2010.
Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) is a national resource center for large-scale biological research with focus on biomedicine, including genome and proteome profiling, bioimaging, and bioinformatics. SciLifeLab Stockholm has been established jointly by the Royal Institute of Technology, Karolinska institutet and Stockholm University. The main activities will be concentrated in new buildings close to Karolinska institutet and the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, near down-town Stockholm.
The position will be placed in SciLifeLab, with emplyoment at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University.
Subject description: Bioinformatics genomics and/or systems biology.
Main tasks: Research, research supervision, scientific and administrative responsibility for bioinformatics analysis at SciLifeLab.
Required qualifications: To qualify for employment as a senior lecturer the applicant should have obtained a doctoral degree or demonstrated the equivalent academic competence, completed teacher training in higher education of at least 7.5 credits or acquired similar knowledge* in another way, and demonstrated pedagogical skill.
The applicant must have the ability to collaborate and the competence and qualities needed to carry out the work tasks successfully.
*Applicants who have not yet completed teacher training in higher education can be offered a temporary position (1+1 year) in order to obtain such competence.
Basis for the assessment: Equal weight will be placed on the applicant’s academic and pedagogical skills.
Special weight will also be placed on documented: experience from administrative tasks competence in bioinformatic methods development and applications competence in high-throughput biology, preferably with experience from Next Generaton Sequencing projects
Additional information: Applicants may request appointment at the rank of professor; if so this must be stated clearly in the application. In order to qualify for promotion to professor applicants must have demonstrated well-documented academic expertise on a high international level, and well-documented pedagogical expertise.
Since most senior lecturers at the department are men, applications from female candidates are particularly welcome.
As the holder of the position advertised will play an important role in the establishment of the bioinformatics infrastructure at SciLifeLab, leadership qualities, ability to collaborate and to communicate with colleagues and users are essential. The position is physically located at SciLife Lab
